CERTIFICATE COURSE IN PURCHASING PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES
Objectives :-
To provide participants with an understanding and basic knowledge in purchasing techniques to make use in the field of purchasing management and enabling them to function efficiently and effectively will save more in the respective organization.

The Course is designed for those who are engaged in lower levels in purchasing functions in public and private sector organizations. School leavers who are interested in the field of Supply and Materials Management also may apply to gain basic knowledge to follow the advance courses conducted by this Institute.

Importance of Purchasing, Purchasing Cycle, Purchasing Function, Policies and Principles, Merchandising for Industry, Purchasing Interfaces, Classification of items and Coding, Checks and Controls in Purchasing, Buying Methods and Decisions, Cost Reduction in Purchasing, Planning for Purchasing, Purchasing Systems, International Purchasing, Payment for Foreign Purchases, Local Purchasing, Ethical Issues in Purchasing, Forward Buying, Purchasing of Commodities and Risk Avoidance, Minimizing Risks in Prices Fluctuation, Stock Cataloguing, Purchase Budget, Negotiations - Basic Concepts, Quotation Procedure, Competitive Tender Systems, Vote Control and Keeping to Commitment, Legal Aspects in Purchasing, Quality Management, Duties and Responsibilities of Purchasing Staff, Evaluation of Supplier Performance, Measuring Purchasing Performance.
Entry Requirement:-
Participants should posses a good knowledge in Course Medium Sinhala or English, and who are in the middle management or lower management with the following qualification or school leavers who have passed the G.C.E. (O/L) with a Credit Pass in Sinhala or English and Mathematics can apply

Course Fees :-11,000/= (Includes VAT 12% and NBT 3%)
Examination and Award of Certificate:-
Participants who have attended 80 % of lectures will be allowed to sit for the examination and certificate of Purchasing Principles and Practices will be awarded to those who successfully completed the examination.
